Horse Hair Pottery
It is said that a Navajo potter was removing a hot pot from the kiln when her long hair blew against the pot creating unique images of carbon trails and smoke patterns.
Horse hair pottery is a unique, one-of-a kind keepsake to celebrate a horse who is with you now, or a wonderful way to remember one who have passed. A horse’s tail hair will produce a longer thicker line, while the mane hair will produce shorter thinner lines. Other hair such as dog, goat, pig, donkey and bird feathers have been used to decorate pots.
You can purchase one of our beautiful horse hair pots in our gallery or we can take hair from your horse or other animal and decorate a pot you selected. No two horse hair pots are alike, just like the animals they represent!

Note: The process of decorating pottery with horse hair renders the clay porous-not watertight. Please enjoy as a unique one of a kind piece of art.
